Community Participation Program

What is the Community Participation Program?

The Community Participation Program aims to assist young people with a   disability to develop the skills they need to work towards their goals, increase their independence and participate as valued and active members of the community.

At the end of the program, it is envisaged that these young people will be able to make informed choices about the way that they wish to live their future lives.

What can young people achieve through this program?

• Maintain and develop life skills and increase independence
• Continue learning & participate in meaningful leisure, recreational, social & cultural activities
• Participate & be included in their local community
• Have active & valued roles in their community
• Expand their friendship & support networks
• Fair access to support for those from cultural & linguistic diverse backgrounds

• Support in making the transition from school to adult life

How will we do this?

 Multitasks delivers the CP program in accordance with the following    principles:

• Person centred - young people and their families/advocates should be the drivers of their Individual Plans, having control over important decisions that affect their lives
• Designed for young people- Multitask offers activities that are similar to those undertaken by other community members of a similar age, gender &  background
• Genuinely inclusive - Multitask provides opportunities to help young people  build  their  own  supportive  communities,  both  formal  & informal,  that  connect  them  to  broader  social  roles &  involvement
• Flexible- Multitask caters for young people's changing needs & skills as they transition to adulthood
• Culturally competent & respectful - Multitask respects the individual ways in which young people choose to live their lives & understand the cultural mix of our community
• Working in partnership - with young people, their families & other service providers
